INDEPENDENCE, Missouri -- Former MissouriI goalie Charlie Effinger has told the Independence Examiner Friday that he's leaving the Mavericks to play for the Fort Wayne Komets in their first season in the E.C.H.L..
The 26 - year - old Effinger went 32 - 15 - 4 in 51 games with Missouri this past season,posting a 2.61 goals against average and a .923 save percentage. He played well against the Komets in the playoffs, But the K's won that series in seven games on their way to the C.H.L. Championship. Coming off of hip surgery Thursday, starting goalie Nick Boucher isn't expected to be available until after the first of the year at the earliest.
