LYTHAM ST. ANNES, ENGLAND -- Adam Scott collapsed on the final day of the Open Championship, handing the Claret Jug to late - comer Ernie Els. Scott held a multi - stroke lead for most of Sunday, but ended his weekend with four straight bogeys, closing with a 75 after Els shot a 2 - under par 68 and entered the clubhouse just one stroke behind Scott.
