FORT WAYNE (Indiana's NewsCenter) - LPGA Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez, one of the most accomplished and well-known players in the history of women’s golf, will participate in the 2012 Mad Anthonys Charity Classic for Children,
Current LPGA pro Angela Stanford, will also be taking part in the June 17-18 event at Sycamore Hills.
Lopez was the most dominant and successful golfer on the LPGA throughout her 25 year career, with 48 career wins, including 3 majors, and winning the money title 3 times.
Stanford, an 11-year veteran of the LPGA Tour, has won five times on tour – including this year’s HSBC Championship – and finished in the top 10 more than 60 times.
Lopez and Stanford joins a list of the LPGA’s most promising young players in pursuit of the event’s $300,000 purse, including Fort Wayne native Amanda Blumenherst, who will serve as the Charity Classic’s first-ever official host. Blumenherst is also a three-time winner of the Nancy Lopez award, which honors the world’s no. 1 amateur player.
