Huntington North, Adams Central, Lakewood Park Gain State Softball Finals; Woodlan Loses

UNDATED (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Huntington North, Adams Central, and Lakewood Park won their way into next week's state high school softball finals with semi-state wins on Saturday.

Woodlan was denied a return with a championship game loss.

Star sophomore pitcher Erin Rethlake tossed a pair of victories in leading Huntington North to the 4A Harrison Semi-State title, taking a 3-2 semifinal win over Chesterton, and then topping favored Northridge 1-0 in the evening final.

Huntington North will face Plainfield in the 4A final at Ben Davis on Saturday night.

3A second ranked Woodlan hit two home runs in their 11-4 semifinal win at the 3A Twin Lakes Semi-State, before losing in the final to Andrean 7-1.

Adams Central shocked second ranked Rochester 5-4 in the 2A Eastern Semi-State semifinals, then topped Carroll of Flora 4-2 in the final, which sends the Lady Jets against unbeaten South Putnam in the 2A final Saturday afternoon.

Lakewood Park won a trip back to state in 1A, winning 2-0 over Cowan in the Clinton Prairie Semi-State semifinal, and then over Lafayette Central Catholic 10-2 in the final, which puts the Lady Panthers up against Indianapolis Lutheran next Saturday morning.

All four state final games will be played at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis.
