NOTRE DAME, Indiana (21 Alive) - Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly said he was both shocked and disappointed when he first learned of the academic misconduct probe of four of his player by the university.

Kelly says he will not be part of the probe, only an observer.

The four players, DaVaris Daniels, KeiVarae Russell, Kendall Moore, and Ishaq Williams, have not practiced with the team since the probe was revealed, and face dismissal from the university if the charges are found to be true.

Kelly said Notre Dame is doing this the right way, and adds that he feels for the four players, but he must also worry about the players he has still practicing and prepping for the opener against Rice on August 30th.
