INDIANAPOLIS (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Peyton Manning has been declared out of the Colts' regular season opener Sunday in Houston because of his ongoing neck and back health issues.
If reports from Jake Query, radio host on Indianapolis radio station WNDE are true it could be longer. Query sent out several tweets on Wednesday afternoon saying he had confirmed through a few sources that he trusts that Manning is out of the season. Query went on to say that Manning had already had a 3rd procedure done on his neck either this post Sunday or Monday. The Colts have not confirmed those reports.
This is the statement released through the team on Wednesday, Manning said, "To say I am disappointed in not being able to play is an understatement,"
"The best part about football is being out there on the field playing with my teammates. It will be tough not to be out there playing for the organization and our fans.
"I simply am not healthy enough to play, and I am doing everything I can to get my health back."
" The team will do fine without me, and I know for sure that I will miss them much more than they will miss me."
Kerry Collins will start at quarterback in place of Manning, whose 227 game streak of consecutive starts will come to an end.
