MIDLAND, MICHIGAN (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The Great Lakes Loons scratched across two runs on TinCaps's mistakes and used those to hand Fort Wayne a 2-1 loss Friday night.
TinCaps ace Ady Portillo was his own worst enemy with an error in the second that allowed the first Loons' run to score.
The second came in the third when the TinCaps failed to check a runner at third on a dropped third strike, allowing that runner to score on the throw to first to get the batter.
Held to just two hits, Fort Wayne got two more in the ninth, scored once, and loaded the bases with one out before both Yeison Ascensio and Lee Orr struck out to end the game.
The series wraps up Saturday night.
