SAN FRANCISCO (Indiana's NewsCenter) - On a day where top golfers fell be the wayside, 25 year old Wake Forest grad Webb Simpson had the right stuff to gain a one shot win at the 112th U.S. Open.
Simpson shot his second straight two under par 68 to win by one shot over Graeme McDowell and Michael Thompson at one over 281..
Jim Furyk, the leader much of the tournament, bogeyed two of the last three holes and ended up at three over par.
Tiger Woods had even more trouble, losing four shots to par on the first three holes Sunday and ending with a three over 73 and a seven over 287, six shots back.
