BOWLING GREEN, KENTUCKY (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Jeff Malm belted an eighth inning grand slam that lifted the Bowling Green Hot Rods to a 5-3 win over the TinCaps Saturday night.
Malm's blast off Johnny Barbato followed Cody Hebner's walking the bases loaded before being yanked by manager Jose Valentin.
The TinCaps had built a 3-1 lead on a Travis Jankowski RBI single, a double play ball and a passed ball.
The loss, coupled with Lake County's win at Lansing, locked the Caps into a first round pairing with Lansing when the Midwest League playoffs begin on Wednesday night.
The best of three series will start at Parkview Field, with games two and if necessary three in Lansing.
Game two of this regular season ending series at Bowling Green is Sunday.
