PEORIA, Ill. – The TinCaps slugged their way to a 16-7 triumph over the Peoria Chiefs, Sunday at
O’Brien Field. Five TinCaps had multi-hit games including Rymer Liriano who homered and drove
in three runs.
Ten Fort Wayne position players got into the game; they all had base hits. Four players had multi-
RBI games and four scored multiple runs. Meanwhile LHP Todd Privett went six strong innings to
pick up his first win in affiliated baseball since 2006.
Fort Wayne jumped ahead in the top of the first when Rico Noel motored all the way around,
scoring from first on a single by Luis Domoromo. The Chiefs tied it in the bottom of the inning on
a double by Richard Jones.
Two innings later, a pair of TinCaps runs scored on an errant throw, making it 3-1. The Chiefs
responded with two more unearned runs when Jones hooked a game-tying, two-run double to
right.
From there, the TinCaps scored nine unanswered runs. Connor Powers broke the tie with a
leadoff home run in the fourth. In the fifth, Liriano blasted a two-run homer over the wall in center
to make it 7-3. Fort Wayne exploded in the sixth, scoring five runs against RHP Robinson Lopez.
Wes Cunningham capped the rally with a two-run single to right which made it 12-3.
Ahead 12-5 in the ninth, Peoria brought their starting right fielder to the mound to pitch;
Emmanuel Quiles belted a leadoff home run and Domoromo later clobbered a three-run homer to
expand the lead to 16-5.
Privett (1-0) allowed three runs, all unearned, in six innings of work to grab the win. Chiefs RHP
Luis Liria (0-1) was tagged with the loss, allowing seven runs in five innings.
The TinCaps upped their record to 11-12 in the half, 41-51 for the season and secured their third
straight series victory on the road trip. The Chiefs fell to 9-14 since the all-star break, 42-51 for
the year.
The TinCaps and Chiefs (Class-A Chicago Cubs) finish the three-game series Monday at noon ET.
