"Tonalist" Polishes Off "California Chrome" at Belmont Stakes

(Elmont, New York) -- "California Chrome" was bidding for horse racing immortality Saturday, going for the Triple Crown in the Belmont Stakes.
As they came down the stretch, Jockey Victor Espinosa took "California Chrome" to the outside for the final push, but it would come up short.

"Tonalist" turned it on and eased away for the win in two minutes and 28.52 seconds to beat "Commissioner" by a head. "Medal Count" was the show horse.

"California Chrome" and "Wicked Strong" finished in a dead heat for fourth, so "California Chrome" became the 20 th horse all - time to lose a Triple Crown bid at Belmont.
