St. Francis Releases 2009 Football Schedule

Fort Wayne) - The University of Saint Francis 2009 football schedule has been completed and five of the 10 regular season games include five teams ranked in the final NAIA 2008 ratings. It also includes one new non-conference opponent.

The Cougars open the 2009 season at home against MSFA Midwest League member Iowa Wesleyan on September 12 at noon at Bishop D’Arcy Stadium.

Games against ranked teams include:

No. 14 St. Ambrose Away Sept. 19

No. 32 RV Marian Home Sept. 26

No. 24 Malone Away Oct. 3

No. 22 St. Xavier Home Nov. 7

USF will play seven MSFA MEL games in 2009 with two new members moving over from the MWL – Trinity International (Deerfield, IL) and Olivet Nazarene (Bourbonnais, IL). USF won the MEL in 2008 with a 6-0 record. The Olivet Nazarene at USF game on Oct. 31 will be the first time the two teams have met since the 1998 meeting in the Cougars’ first season.

The one new opponent on the USF schedule is NCAA Division II member Missouri University of Science & Technology, which is located in Rolla, Mo., just under two hours southwest of St. Louis, MO.

USF will conclude its spring drills on Sunday, April 19, with the annual Blue & White Game at D’Arcy Stadium at 1 p.m. USF will also recognize the 19 seniors as well as award winners from the 2008 team at halftime.
