TU’s Mario Brown had the long run of the scrimmage with a 40-yard dash. USF’s Frank Wolfe broke off a 17-yard gainer. USF senior tailback Daniel Carter was held out of action with an undisclosed injury as a precautionary measure.

Several hundred fans from both schools attended the scrimmage, the first meeting between the schools since then Tri-State University moved from NAIA to NCAA Division III after the 2002 season.
