FORT WAYNE9 (Indiana's NewsCenter) - IPFW men's basketball coach Dane Fife has suspended senior forward Deilvez Yearby for the Mastodons' season-opener Sunday at Wisconsin.

Yearby's one game suspension is for violation of team rules. He will be eligible to return when the Mastodons host Madonna next Tuesday in their home opener at the Memorial Coliseum.

"Deilvez is a great kid who made a bad decision," Fife said. "We have rules, and if anyone chooses to break them they must pay the price. We hope D.Y. will learn from this mistake and develop the necessary leadership skills that he will need to achieve his goals in life. I have full confidence that he will serve his punishment and come back ready to help our basketball program."
