NEW ORLEANS (Indiana's NewsCenter) – A potential game tying three pointer by Carleton Scott rattled out in the final seconds, and 11th-seeded Old Dominion upset sixth-seeded Notre Dame 51-50 on Thursday in the South Regional of the NCAA Tournament..
Frank Hassell scored 15 to lead Old Dominion, who won their first tournament game in 15 years.
Luke Harangody was held to four points for the Irish amd did not score until the final minute.
Ben Hansbrough led Notre dame with 17 points.
SAN JOSE - Shelvin Mack had 18 of his 25 points in the second half and went seven of either in three pointers to pace fifth-seeded Butler to a 77-59 win over 12th seeded UTEP in the NCAA tournament's West Regional.
Gordon Hayward added 13 points and Matt Howard 11 for the Bulldogs, who ran their winning streak to 21 games, and they will meet Murray State, the 66-65 upset winner over Pitt in the second round on Saturday.
