FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - IPFW men's volleyball head coach Arnie Ball will return to the Volleydons season next season.

Ball tells 21Alive on Tuesday that he plans to coach one more season--his 35th at IPFW--before stepping down.

The hall-of-fame coach says his wife left the decision to retire up to him, and he considered stepping down after this past season.

But at the request of new IPFW athletic director Kelley Hartley Hutton, Ball decided to return.

Ball has amassed 551 career wins and 6 NCAA tournament appearances.

Ball says he hopes to have some input on the head coach who will succeed him, but understands its ultimately IPFW's decision.
