WEST LAFAYETTE (Indiana's NewsCenter)- Purdue head men’s basketball coach Matt Painter announced on Friday that junior guard/forward D.J. Byrd has been suspended for Sunday’s game against Michigan State and junior guard Kelsey Barlow has been dismissed from the program.
Both actions are a result of violation of team rules.
“This is an unfortunate situation, but we will move forward as a program,” Painter said. “We expect our student-athletes to live up to a high standard, and when their actions become detrimental to the program, there are consequences.”
Neither Painter and the Purdue coaching staff nor the Purdue men’s basketball players will have further comment on this matter.
