FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Churubusco High School graduate Kyle Mathewson didn’t play quarterback, but the 6-foot-1, 205-pound is calling an audible and the University of Saint Francis football program is the beneficiary.
Mathewson has decided he wants to play collegiate football closer to his hometown of Churubusco and has enrolled at USF, which is preparing for its 14th season.
The 2010 Indiana North All-Star had declared his intention to play at Grand Valley State University, an NCAA Division II member, back in February.
He was a 3-sport star for the Eagles who advanced to the IHSAA State Track and Field Championship Meet in the 200-meter dash.
