ELMHURST, Ill. – IPFW junior guard Frank Gaines has been named to the All-Summit League first team, announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
Gaines, the third highest scorer in the Summit League this season, averages 21.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. He has scored 20 or more points 18 times this season, including in each of the most recent five games where he is averaging over 28 points per game.
Gaines was named Honorable Mention All-League last season as a sophomore, and is first Mastodon to earn All-League first team honors. Jaraun Burrows (2007-08), Deilvez Yearby (2009-10), and Ben Botts (2010-11) had each been named to the All-League second team.
The Mastodons face off against top seeded Oral Roberts in the opening round of the 2012 Summit League Tournament in a 7 p.m. EST tip-off at the Sioux Falls Arena.
