MINNEAPOLIS (www.incnow.tv) - Freshman Philip Nelson tossed three touchdown passes and Minnesota won its first Big Ten vivtory of the season in a 44-28 drubbing of Purdue Saturday.
The Boilermakers scored first on a Caleb TerBush to Brandon Cottam touchdown pass, but the Golden Gophers scored the next 44 straight points, highlights by Nelson's performance.
TerBush was pulled in favor of Robert Marve in the third quarter after throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown by Minnesota.
Marve threw for two scores after taking over.
Purdue has lost three straight.
