Notre Dame Advances In NCAA Women's Tournament, Purdue Out

UNDATED (21 Alive) - Notre Dame advanced and Purdue was eliminated in second round NCAA Women's Tournament play on Monday night.

In Toledo, Natalie Achonwa scored 25 points and grabbed eleven rebounds to lead unbeaten Notre Dame to their 84-67 win over Arizona State in the second round of the Notre Dame Regional.

Kayla McBride added 23 points and nine assists for the Irish, who moved on to Sweet 16 play at Notre Dame this weekend.

Purdue could have met Notre Dame this weekend in theSweet 16 at Notre Dame, but the Boilermakers lost to Oklahoma State at home 73-66, with the Cowgirls getting a huge 20 point 20 rebound performance from Brittany Martin.

Purdue, who ended the season at 22-9, was led by Whitney Bays' 19 points and 13 rebounds.
