(East Lansing, Michiagn) -- Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson passed for a touchdown and ran for another to lead the 20 th - ranked Fighting Irish to a surprising 20 - 3 victory over tenth - ranked Michigan State Saturday night. Golson threw for 178 yards and the TD without an interception and the Fighting Irish defense stifled the Spartans offense on their home field. Notre Dame improved to 3 - 0 for the season while Michigan State fell to 2 - 1.
