Saint Francis Honors Men's Basketball Players

FORT WAYNE (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Saint Francis senior guard Q Owens has been named the Cougars 2011-12 Most Valuable Player while senior teammate Kevin Dawson received two team awards at the season ending USF men’s basketball awards banquet at Hutzell Athletic Center on Sunday.

Owens led USF in scoring in 2011-12, finished No. 3 on the USF career scoring list with 1,862 points. He led USF in scoring (19.6 ppg) and finished No. 4 in NAIA DII scoring with 706 points, No. 16 in scoring average. He also led USF in assists (3.4 apg) and steals (1.4 spg

Dawson was named USF Best Defensive Player and also earned the Marcus Ellerbrock Mental Attitude Award.

Sophomore forward Scott Kohne eas named USF Most Improved Player after finished No. 3 behind Owens and Dawson in scoring with a 12.2 average and shooting 56 percent from the field in 36 games including 27 starts.

Freshman Spencer Comer was awarded the first Ferdinand Morales-Soto Hustle Award.
