FORT WAYNE (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Saint Francis head football coach Kevin Donley will have three transfers to the Cougars’ football program who will be eligible for the 2012 season.
Homestead grad Kevin Bush, Columbia City alum Logan Rehrer, and Bishop Luers grad Steven Kiermaier have informed Donley they will attend USF when the second semester starts in January.
Bush is transferring from Indiana University, where he played in three games on special teams before leaving the team in September. Donley expects Bush (6-foot-4, 257-pounds) to play either defensive end or linebacker. After attending the University of Toledo in 2004, Bush spent three-and-a-half years in the United States Armed Forces before returning stateside and attending IU and redshirting in fall 2009.
Rehrer will compete at quarterback after attending Indiana State University one semester as a preferred walk-on. In his senior season at Columbia City (2010), Rehrer led the Eagles to a 10-2 record and their first Northeast Hoosier Conference title since 1990. Rehrer broke single season records in passing with 2,508 yards on 158-of-298 (53 percent) throwing and 26 touchdown passes. He finished with a CCHS record 5,308 yards passing.
Kiermaier will transfer from Arizona Western College after one semester there. Donley expected the 6-foot-2, 205-pound senior to compete at linebacker after he helped lead Bishop Luers to back-to-back IHSAA Class 2A State Championships as the No. 2 tackler and the No. 1 rusher for the Knights in 2010.
