FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - University of Saint Francis football head coach Kevin Donley has been given a contract extension, the school announced Monday.

The extension will keep Donley as coach through 2018. He has been the head coach since USF started a football program in 1997.

"By signing Coach Donley to a five-year rolling contract, our current recruits understand that they will be playing for the NAIA's greatest coach for their entire college career," Saint Francis athletic director Mike McCaffrey said in a statement released by the university. " There is no other person on the planet that we would rather have leading our student-athletes."

Donley has compiled a 158-36 in 16 seasons as head coach, and is a 2-time NAIA National Coach of the Year. Prior to coming to USF, Donley was the coach at Georgetown College--winning the 1991 NAIA National Championship--and Anderson.

"We started this program with a mission to develop quality young men into meaningful contributors to our community and to win some games along the way," Donley said in the USF statement. "I am truly grateful to the entire Saint Francis community for this opportunity to continue to coach Football."

Donley will be inducted in January into the NAIA Hall of Fame.
