Gooden Leaves New Haven For Ipls. Lawrence Central (VIDEO)

INDIANAPOLIS (21Alive) - New Haven High School boys basketball coach Al Gooden has accepted the same position at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis.

Gooden's hiring was appointed by the Metropolitan District of Lawrence Township school board on Tuesday night.

Gooden spent 3 years at New Haven, going 54-14. The Bulldogs won the Northeast Hoosier Conference championships in 2014 and 2013, and a sectional title in 2013.


Prior to New Haven, Gooden coached at Harding High School until the school's closure. The Hawks won the 2001 2A state championship, 5 semi-state championships, 8 regional championships and 10 sectional championships and 4 Summit Athletic Conference championships along the way.
