Veteran H.S. Hoops Coach Merrell To Retire

(Fort Wayne) - Gary Merrell is retiring as boys basketball coach at Blackhawk Christian after six seasons, ending his 35 year coaching career.
Merrell, who plans to spend a lot of next season watching his son Dayton play at Grace College, was 107-65 with six sectional titles, three regional crowns, and one semistate championship.
Over his career, he was 447-337 with stops besides Blackhawk at Carroll of Carroll County, Madison, Seymour, DeKalb, and Heritage.
