PONETO, Ind. (21Alive) - A new era for Southern Wells High School begins this fall as Steve Yencer takes as the new head coach.

Yencer replaces Mark Lefebvre, who coached the Raiders for 18 seasons. Lefebvre was hired by North Miami High School in the offseason.

"Things won't change a ton," Yencer says. "A lot of things I learned in terms of him."

Southern Wells returns a promising backfield with 1,000-yard fullback Cole Preston and runningbacks Jacob Roush and Colton Newbery. Wide receiver Brad Woodward will also be in the mix for a team that looks to rebound from a 2-8 record last year.

"We got a core group of sophomores, juniors and seniors that have put a lot of time in the weight room, and 7-on-7 and camp."

Southern Wood opens the 2013 season at Southwood on Aug. 23.
