(Fort Wayne - AP) - Longtime Fort Wayne Snider football
coach Russ Isaacs has been named the school's athletic director.
His selection to succeed Mike Hawley, who retired in December,
was approved by the Fort Wayne Community Schools board Monday
night.
The 56-year-old Isaacs won 194 games in 18 seasons with the
Panthers, and his .858 winning percentage was tops among active
Indiana coaches. Under Isaacs, Snider won the 1992 Class 5A
championship and was runner-up in 2002 and 2004. He also was
wrestling coach from 1976 to 1983.
Isaacs will not coach football but says his new job gives him
"the opportunity to serve the school in a broader basis."
