Norwell High School pitcher Jarrod Parker, along with his friends, and family went crazy as they got the exciting news.

This star player, who has worn number 9 for his past two winning years at Norwell, was also selected as the 9th pick in this year's Major League Baseball draft.

Parker becomes the highest drafted player ever in our area.

"What I told my mom was like, 'it's overwhelming', she's like 'are you ready for your life to change' and I'm like I'm ready, it's gonna be my career, so I'm gonna have fun with it," says Parker.

Parker did have the option to attend the actual draft in Orlando, televised for the first time, but said he would rather share the special moment with those who have cheered him on all along.
