High School Realignment Talks Begin

December 12, 2012 Updated Dec 12, 2012 at 8:08 PM EDT

Leo (incnow.tv)- It has been the topic of coversation for years and the conversation of conference realignment for local schools is heating up again.

Sources have confirmed to 21Alive that there was a meeting at Leo on Wednesday involving all the NHC schools minus Homestead and Carroll, along with athletic directors from Leo and Angola.

The conversation of breaking off and forming a conference of their own was discussed but no decision was made. Sources also say the schools will meet again sometime in January to continue the conversation.

Rumors such as these have been swirling for years, but a source tells us that they believe something will happen this time.

The NHC bylaws state that schools must give 2 years notice before leaving the conference so if this plan does move forward it will be a lengthy process.
