Full Day Of Practice At Indy

By Web Sports

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - After several days of rain, drivers finally
got some work done at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway today.
All but an hour of track time was washed out yesterday in the
start of the second week of practice for the Indianapolis 500.
Thirty-five drivers took advantage of the cool, dry afternoon.
Despite sometimes gusty wind, there were no accidents on the
2½-mile oval. It was easily the busiest day since the track opened
for practice in advance of the May 25th race.
Ryan Briscoe and Helio Castroneves gave Penske Racing 1-2 on the speed chart Thursday, both topping 223 miles per hour.
Eleven drivers who qualified last Saturday spent today working
on race-day setups. Everyone else tried to find the right
combination of speed and balance to be ready to qualify Saturday.
Twenty-two spots remain for the race.
