Phillies Top Sabathia, Brewers
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - CC Sabathia has made his
last four starts on three days' rest. His next outing could come on six months' rest. The Philadelphia Phillies have a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five National League Division Series after scoring five times off Sabathia in the second inning of a 5-2 triumph over the Milwaukee Brewers. Shane Victorino had the big blow against Sabathia, a grand slam that snapped a one-all tie. Sabathia was reached for five runs and six hits in three and two-thirds. The lefty gave up only two earned runs over 21 and two-thirds innings over his final three starts of the regular season. Brett Myers was sensational after allowing a bases-loaded walk to J.J. Hardy in the top of the first. Myers allowed only two hits in seven innings, Ryan Braun's double in the first and Hardy's two-bagger in the seventh. Brad Lidge worked a perfect ninth for his second save in two games. The Phillies are just a win away from their first NLCS appearance since 1993. The Brewers will try to stay alive when they host the Phils Saturday. |
