HAMPTON, Ga. (AP) - Jimmie Johnson is closer to the Nextel Cup
points lead following a victory in the Pep Boys Auto 500 at Atlanta

Johnson jumped from fifth to second after taking two fresh tires
late in the race. He moved in front during an accident involving
leader Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Junior.
Johnson is within nine points of the lead after starting the
race 53 behind teammate and Nextel Cup leader Jeff Gordon, who
finished seventh.
It was Johnson's second straight victory and eighth of the
season.
Carl Edwards was second, followed by Reed Sorenson, Matt Kenseth
