K's Sign Notre Dame Goalie

Goaltender Steven Summerhays

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The Fort Wayne Komets signed University of Notre Dame goaltender Steven Summerhays on Thursday.

Summerhays, 23, of Anchorage, Alaska, finished a four-year career with the Fighting Irish on Sunday in an overtime loss to St. Cloud State University in the NCAA Regional Semi-Final.

He tallied a 21-14-2 record with 2.04 goals against average.

Sumerhays played two years of juniors with Green Bay of the USHL.

Additionally, the Komets placed goalie Matt Grogan on waivers. Grogan had a 3.39 goals against average and went 3-1-0 with the K's.
