AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - Trevor Immelman entered the second round of
the Masters with a share of first place. He has the lead all to
himself following a second straight 68 that leaves him 8-under at
the midway point, one shot ahead of American Brandt Snedeker.
Immelman says the consecutive 68s are probably beyond his
expectations. He was in a South African hospital four months ago to
begin a swift recovery from a benign tumor that was removed form
Phil Mickelson also can be found near the top of the
leaderboard. He's in a three-way tie for third with Steve Flesch
and Ian Poulter.
One person not currently in contention is Tiger Woods, although
he has 36 holes to make up seven shots on Immelman.
Defending champ Zach Johnson barely made the cut after a 4-over
76 left him plus-2 for the tournament.
Among the notables missing the cut are Sergio Garcia, Ernie Els
and Rory Sabbatini.
