Rays End Sox Season, Advance To ALCS

CHICAGO (AP) - It's another first for the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Rays have advanced to the American League Championship
Series for the first time in their 11-season history by downing the
Chicago White Sox 6-2 in Game 4 of the ALDS at U.S. Cellular Field.
B.J. Upton put the Rays ahead to stay, belting a solo homer two
batters into the game before adding another solo blast in the third
inning. Cliff Floyd sparked a two-run fourth that put Tampa Bay
ahead 4-0, hitting an RBI double and scoring on Dioner Navarro's
single.
Carlos Pena provided a pair of run-scoring singles to keep the
Rays in control of the game.
Winning pitcher Andrew Sonnanstine held the White Sox to a pair
of runs and three hits in five and two-thirds. He outpitched Gavin
Floyd, who was rocked for four runs and five hits in three-plus
innings.
The Rays will face either Boston or the Los Angeles Angels in
the ALCS.
