K;s Blank Bloomington In Preseason Opener

(Fort Wayne) - Rick Varone netted a pair of goals, both on passes from J.P. Roy, in leading the Komets to a 3-0 win over the Bloomington Prairie Thunder Wednesday night in the IHL preseason opener for both teams.

Adam Sinewitz opened the scoring in the first period, and Varone followed with one score each in the second and third.

Goalies Sebastien Laplante and Tim Haun split the shutout, LaPlante stopping 15 shots and Haun ten.

The K's continue their preseason Friday night at Kalamazoo.
