CONCORD, N.C. (AP) - Jeff Burton gambled on his final pit stop
and was rewarded with a victory that pushed him into title
contention at the halfway point of the 10-race Chase for the Sprint
Cup championship.
The victory was Burton's second of the season. It pushed Burton
from fourth to second in the Chase for the championship standings
with five races to go to decide the title.
Carl Edwards, who entered the race second in the standings, lost
power and finished 33rd. That's likely to cost him his first Sprint
Cup title. Kasey Kahne finished second and was followed by Kurt Busch. Kyle Busch, the regular-season points winner, was fourth for his best finish since the Chase began five weeks ago.
