Pittsburgh, PA (AP) - A stifling defense and a fourth-quarter comeback allowed the New York Giants to improve to 6 -1 this season.
The Giants gave up only 249 total yards, recorded five sacks, and
grabbed four interceptions in a 21 - 14 victory at Pittsburgh. Big
Blue hounded Ben Roethlisberger, who was 13 of 29 for 189 yards and four interceptions.
The defensive effort was almost wasted by the Giants' offense,
which continued to stall in the red zone. New York trailed 14 - 12
late in the game until James Harrison made a high snap that went
out of bounds for a safety. The safety also set up the winning
drive that ended with Eli Manning's two - yard touchdown pass to
Kevin Boss with 3:11 remaining.
Harrison had to take over the long-snapping duties following a
knee injury to Greg Warren.
Manning passed for 199 yards and no interceptions as the Giants
dropped the Steelers to 5 - 2.
Pittsburgh was held to 21 yards of offense after
Roethlisberger's 65 - yard scoring pass to Nate Washington gave the
Steelers a 14 - 9 lead early in the third quarter.
