NEW YORK (AP) - The Baseball Writers Association of America
announced the 2009 rookies of the year on Monday and will name the
American League Cy Young Award winner on Tuesday.
Oakland's Andrew Bailey took AL rookie honors after going
6-and-3 with 26 saves and a 1.84 ERA for the A's this year. The NL
award goes to Florida outfielder Chris Coghlan (KAHG'-lihn), who
hit .321 and led all league rookies in hits, runs scored, doubles
and multi-hit games.
