Fort Wayne, IN -- The Komets announced Tuesday that they have traded defenseman Trisitin Llewellyn to the Missouri Mavericks for goaltender Gerry Festa.
Festa, 27, began his pro career with Missouri 2009-10. 2011-12 was his third consecutive season with the Mavericks. The netminder opened this season with two wins before completing his abbreviated 2011-12 stint with Missouri posting a 2-4-2 record, 3.00 goals-against average and .904 save percentage in eight appearances.
Festa made his debut against the Komets last week on Thursday, Dec. 29 suffering a 4-2 loss in Fort Wayne making 37 saves on 40 shots. It was his most recent appearance before today's trade with the Komets.
Festa is expected to arrive in Fort Wayne in time for Friday morning's Komet practice at the Coliseum. The Calgary, Alberta native is expected to be in the lineup Friday night when the Komets host Dayton at 8pm.
Llewellyn started the season with the Komets appearing in 11 games scoring one assist.
(Bloomington, IL)- The rest of the team had a rough one in Bloomington on Tuesday night. The K's falling 4-2 despite out shooting the Blaze 49-23. Zane Kalemba had 47 saves and ended the Komets 5 game winning streak nearly single handed. The Komets return home on Friday against Dayton.
