FORT WAYNE (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Bobby Chaumont batted home a pass from Brett Smith with 2:27 gone in overtime Sunday night to lift the Komets to a 4-3 win over the Dayton Gems and into first place overall in the Central Hockey League.
The Komets' win gives them 45 points, one more than Wichita, headed into the CHL All Star Break.
Kaleigh Schrock had tied the game, with just under five minutes remaining in regulation.
Jesse Bennefield and Frankie DeAngelis had first period goals that each time gave the Komets the lead.
In his first start in goal for the Komets, Gerry Festa stopped 28 of 31 shots for the win.
The K's take three days off for the All Star break, except for Smith and goalie Nick Boucher, who head to Arizona for the All Star Game on Wednesday.
