Komets Win Game 1 With Late Szydlowski Goal

READING, Pa. (21Alive) - The Fort Wayne Komets stared their first ever ECHL Kelly Cup Playoff Series in dramatic fashion Thursday night.

Komets winger Shawn Szydlowski scored with 8.1 seconds left in regulation to push the K's past the Royals, 2-1.

The Komets lead the best-of-7 series 1-0.

Mike Embach scored the first Komets goal in the second period.

Reading's Josh Brittain scored in the first period.

Game 2 is 7:05 p.m. Saturday in Reading.
