FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - When Komets fans harken back to the 1970s, Hall of Fame goaltender Robbie Irons easily enters the conversation.

Irons stonewalled the competition over his 11 seasons in Fort Wayne, winning International Hockey League All-Star honors six times.

Irons's 2.89 goals against average in 1972-73 is franchise record low. Iron shared the Norris Memorial Trophy as the league's most oustanding goalie that season.

Irons, known for his fireball masks, was inducted into the Komets Hall of Fame in 1987. His No. 30 is also retired by the K's.
