OSSIAN, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Norwell center Jessica Rupright won 2012 Indiana Miss Basketball on Wednesday, honoring her as the state's best girls basketball player.
Rupright, who received 41 of 206 votes statewide, was told of her selection days in advance, but was not allowed to say she won until the award was official Wednesday morning. Rupright admits it was tough keeping that big of a secret.
Rupright has been a dominant force during her for years at Norwell. The Lady Knights went 84-10 and won two sectional championships in that span. Rupright holds school records of 1,591 points and 728 rebounds. She shot 53 percent this past season, and averaged 21.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
The 6'2" senior signed her national letter of intent with Miami University in November, saying the Redhawks program has that home feeling to her.
Rupright joins Tommy Schoegler and Kent Hormann on Sound Off to talk about her tremendous award.
