SOUTH BEND, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - With Tommy Rees suspended following an offseason arrest, one of the biggest questions has been whom Brian Kelly will pick as the starting Notre Dame quarterback in Week 1.
Kelly put to bed all the speculation Thursday, naming sophomore Everett Golson the starter Sept. 1 against Navy in Dublin.
Everett was in a tight battle all spring against fellow quarterback Andrew Hendrix.
WNDU's (South Bend) Angelo Di Carlo says while Kelly answered the quarterback situation, questions still remain as Tommy Rees makes an attempt to climb back up the depth chart.
"I think Everett is going to have a little bit of a leash here," Di Carlo told Tommy Schoegler and Kent Hormann on Sound Off. "Even though Kelly's history really hasn't backed that up."
