FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Over 600 teenage boys in Northeast Indiana are on a Big Brothers/Big Sisters list, waiting for a male mentor to take them under their wing.
In response, Big Brothers/Big Sisters has launched its Sports Buddies program. Sports Buddies is designed for volunteers in the community to take teenage boys on sporting events.
Many of the young men simply want to attend a TinCaps game, or go to the driving range on a Sunday afternoon. But most importantly, most are looking for an important role model in their lives.
Josette Rider, CEO of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana, stopped by Sound Off to tell more about the Sports Buddies program.
Indiana's NewsCenter is a proud sponsor of Big/Big Sisters, and Tommy Schoegler recently joined the Sports Buddies program.
