FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Bishop Luers became the eighth team in state history to win a third consecutive football state championship, with Lafayette Central Catholic becoming the seventh hours earlier.
The Knights' (13-1) lone blemish came in a forfeited 53-0 win at South Side for use of an ineligible player. But even the lone Luers loss does not keep these Knights out of the conversation for best team in school history.
Many point in contrast to the 2001 Luers team. Anchored by Dallas Cowboy defensive end Anthony Spencer, the Knights of a decade ago finished 14-0; and capped off the season with a 2A title of their own.
Tommy Schoegler and AWP President & CEO Michael Ledo discuss where the 2011 Knight ranks in Bishop Luers history. Ledo's mother called to chime in, as well.
