FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A new year brings a fresh start for Wayne High School; notably the Generals football team.
Former Snider assistant Robert Brown assumes the reigns of a football looking to climb from the bottom of the Summit Athletic Conference...and move on from a controversial end to the 2010 season.
A host of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in the Oct. 22 sectional game against Muncie Delta left put the entire Wayne athletic department on one-year IHSAA probation. The football team must wait until after Week 6 to know its postseason eligibility.
Players admit a lack of discipline last year. But with Brown--a former Snider assistant and Harding & Indiana player--in charge, the Generals could have a major piece for the years to come in place.
